Position description: Candidate will be part of a development team that will ensure the successful implementation of the database portion of a system supporting critical agency requirement for storing and reporting information. Duties include designing the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for a complex applications. Candidate will coordinate with software developers to analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed system, and develop technical, structural, and organizational specifications. May create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance. Communicates with technical, applications, and operational staff, in order to design an optimal database architecture (performance, accessibility, backup, and recovery plan). May be required to analyzes and make recommendations for improvements to existing software regarding database performance, stability, usability and scalability. Supports the development effort by authoring stored procedures, functions, views and check constraints and implementing indexes and other performance improvement related changes.


Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 9+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Active TS/SCI w/Poly - must be willing to undergo a polygraph if needed
  • Computer Science or Technical Degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining databases

Desired Qualifications:

  • Oracle or other relevant database certifications
