Program Development & Evaluation VISTA, Mujeres in Action This project is supervised by Mujeres in Action (MiA), which aims to improve access to culturally relevant services for Latinx/e survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Spokane. This project will break the cycle of poverty by evaluating barriers to accessing support so that MiA can remove barriers to services for Spokane's community of Latine survivors.
The goal of this project is to assess MiA programs and services, including the 24/7 Spanish-language hotline, and develop the third edition of La Guia Latina de Recursos de Spokane (a Spanish language guide to community resources) to help remove barriers to accessing support and services for Latine survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, which will help break the generational and cultural cycles of violence for Latine survivors in the Spokane area. The VISTA member will use a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach to program and curriculum development to help direct service providers create opportunities that allow survivors to feel safe and find independence and financial stability. This position is in Spokane, in Eastern Washington, about 20 miles west of Idaho and 110 miles south of the Canadian border.
Benefits include $675 biweekly living allowance. VISTA members who successfully complete the year receive their choice of either a Segal Education Award (valued at approximately $6,895) or a $1,800 cash stipend. Member Duties : This is the second year of a 3-year VISTA project. The VISTA member will support continuous quality improvement efforts for MiA programs by assessing the impact of changes implemented following the Year 1 evaluation and present evaluation findings and recommendations to program staff. The VISTA in this role will also improve equitable access to MiA's services by connecting with community partners and clients to conduct a gap analysis and develop resources to meet the community needs illuminated by those gaps.
The VISTA will conduct community outreach and research to develop a sustainable infrastructure for La Guía Latina de Recursos de Spokane, to allow annual development of a culturally and linguistically specific resource guide tailored to the evolving needs and interests of Latine survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Spokane.
