The Opportunity The Senior Director of Enterprise Data Platform Development and Operations, will lead the integrated platform design, development and operations functions to build and run a scalable data platform which is serving the business needs across MGB, including Clinical Operations, Quality and Safety, Patient Experience, Value Based Care, Pathology, Genomics, Imaging, and Research.

As the Senior Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the strategic development, implementation and management of our cutting-edge platform. This position demands a forward-thinking approach, emphasizing expertise in modern data technologies, strategic partners' engagement, team development and proven track record in building data science, machine learning and generative AI capabilities in large complex organizations with multiple stakeholder demand. Additionally, the Senior Director will provide strong technical leadership to architects and engineers in solution design, while focusing on robust master data, reference data, and data management practices.

The individual will be able to think strategically, setting and driving consensus on direction, also acts very pragmatically in a hands-on way to deliver business value. This individual should not only have a strong desire for delivery and operational excellence but will also be passionate for contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement and coaching/mentoring. Strategic Leadership: Develop and communicate a vision for an agile and future-ready data platform that seamlessly integrates with modern technologies.

Collaborate with executive and digital leadership to align the data strategy with the product roadmaps of development teams and key technology vendors. Data Architecture & Solution Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of a modern, scalable, and cloud-native data architecture. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to solution architects, Data Engineering and Security: Oversee the implementation of modern data integration techniques, including real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures.

Implement advanced security measures, aligning with the security features provided by these technologies. Data Science, Machine Learning, and Generative AI: Drive the development of data science and machine learning capabilities, leveraging advanced analytics for insights and decision-making. Explore and implement generative AI technologies to enhance innovation and creativity within the organization.

Data Governance and Quality: Establish and enforce data governance policies using advanced tools, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance. Implement automated data quality checks and remediation processes within the context of modern data platforms. Master Data and Reference Data Management: Lead the implementation of robust master data and reference data management practices.

Data Platform Operations: Manage the operations of a cloud-based data platform, implementing automation for platform monitoring, scaling, and optimization. Manage cross platform operational support Technical Leadership for Architects and Engineers: Provide strong technical leadership to solution architects and engineers, guiding them in the implementation of robust, scalable, and efficient data solutions. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration within the technical teams.

Partner Engagement/Strategic Vendor Management Develop strong relationships with key strategic partners to ensure that their product development roadmaps are aligned with MGB's needs Ensure that the teams are abreast of the latest capabilities of key partners' products and services Drive co-innovation with key strategic partners where there is mutual benefit Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with senior business leadership and Digital leadership to understand and anticipate evolving data needs, leveraging technology for analytics and insights. Actively engage with vendors to stay informed about product roadmaps and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Team Leadership and Offshore Support: Develop and lead a high-performing team of data engineers, architects, and analysts, emphasizing a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Leverage offshore support teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and support for enterprise data initiatives. QualificationsQualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Operations, or related field, with MBA or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience managing digital transformations and data migrations 10+ years in data warehousing, data lakes, data integration, data platform management, data security, solution design, delivery and managing operations at the enterprise level Recognized as a leader in the field of data architecture, platform architecture, data science, delivering enterprise data solutions within a large organization - driving value and enabling the development of significant capability Strong experience in working with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into solution design and managing customer engagement in a complex organization Demonstrates strong knowledge of cloud technologies and on-premise to cloud migrations 5+ years of experience managing people leaders Proven record in attracting, developing, and motivating the talent needed for current and future business needs Demonstration of maintaining high performance expectations and leading teams to achieve results in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates successful leadership in a matrixed environment Domain knowledge in areas of big data, operational data bases & data lakes, analytics platforms, data products, data governance, privacy and security, data architecture Experience working in a scaled agile environment Preferred Experience Healthcare/Life Sciences industry Epic data architecture Modern Cloud platforms, big data pipelines, database technologies: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Google Cloud, SQL Server, NoSQL ELT/ETL and integration technologies Data analytics & data visualization technologies Skills, Abilities and Competencies Ability to demonstrate Mass General Brigham's Leadership Competencies for both Performance Focused Leadership and People-Focused Leadership Performance Focused: Customer/Patient Focus: Building strong customer/patient relationships and delivering customer/patient centric solutions Manage Complexity: Make sense of complex, high quality, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems Cultivate Innovation: Create new and better ways for the organization to be successful Ensure Accountability: Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments Learning Agility: Actively learn through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as a learning folder People Focused: Drive Equity and Inclusion: Recognizes the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization Build Effective Teams: Build cohesive teams that apply their diverse skills and perspective to achieve common goals Collaborate: Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives Communicate Effectively: Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences including senior system and hospital administrators, physician leadership, technician staff, and other personnel across different institutions Instill Trust: Gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity Supervisory and Fiscal Responsibilities Accountable for an organization of 25-50+ individuals (including contractors) with up to 8 direct reports (including FTEs and contractors and offshore teams) Will be expected to provide technical leadership and guidance to many indirect reports across cross functional teams scope information, ie: size of budget, volume, revenue, etc. Accountable for delivery and support budgets, staffing & strategic investments (labor & non-labor resources).
