In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing business requirements for system development at the senior level for large systems that are complex and span multiple divisions. You will also be responsible for providing assistance to customers for issues or problems.

A day in the life: Evaluate business needs for development of software that changes or reengineers a business process. Primarily responsible for system architecture, analysis and design and may require performing coding of a system.

Accept responsibility on assigned development and maintenance projects to complete the project to the customer's and supervisor's satisfaction in accordance with phased development plans, standards and deadlines. Responsible for high level strategic planning of resource utilization, acquisition planning, new operating system technologies, disaster planning and overall systems performance in a mixed environment enterprise and in conjunction with other state agencies. Evaluate new industry products, approaches and technology directions and determine how they can be integrated in ODOT's technology.

Develop and conduct formal training for users and data processing staff in the operation of new data processing systems and software packages. Diagnose user problems including system crashes on critical systems, direct programmers to fix software and occasionally fix the software yourself. Evaluate data relationships to normalize design for efficient utilization and storage.

Provide conceptual and logical database tables, plans and designs to database analysts. Install solutions new to the agency which includes implementation coordination for large and complex systems that have multiple system interfaces. Remote work options available! Work is performed in a typical office environment and includes managing projects with conflicting requirements and tight deadlines, working irregular hours (weekends, holidays, nights) and job related travel.
