As a Firmware/Embedded Engineering Manager, you will be a part of the Beckman Hematology Firmware/Embedded Development group, reporting to the Senior Hardware Manager, and will provide people management and technical leadership to the group. You will be engaged in new product development for Beckman Coulter's Hematology product line. We are open to remote work from any continental U.S based major city with access to an international airport.

In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:

  • Responsibility for overall product architecture and technology stack, analyzing needs for next generation hematology firmware and embedded software, mapping them to a coherent architecture containing a mixture of third party and home-grown elements, communicating a vision to both executives and engineers, and staying up to date with latest technology trends.
  • Develop proofs of concepts as well as contribute hands on development effort.
  • Define, initiate and manage projects with third party consultancies/partnerships.
  • Lead a firmware/embedded engineering team, developing firmware/software for commercial products and for in-house research in an agile environment Drive development, design, and implementation of firmware and embedded applications.
  • Engage with program managers and cross-functional project teams, technical leaders and executives to communicate projects status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Execute against the Software Development Lifecycle using industry best practices, metrics for measuring and improving product quality

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 12 - 15+ years of experience working through the design, development, release cycle, and delivery of firmware/embedded products in a regulated environment (FDA, DoD, FAA), to market including a minimum of 2 years' experience in technical and people leadership roles.
  • Hands on knowledge of C/C+ is REQUIRED.
  • Leadership skills including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

  • Experience working on Cloud platforms, to include Azure, AWS, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile software development.
  • Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment where continuous improvement is a way of life.
  • Working on VxWorks and Linux operating systems
  • CAN, TCP/IP, RS232 communication protocols
