The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for obtaining Right of Entry (ROE) agreements as part the Business Development team to meet or exceed company targets and objectives. The Business Development team objectives include obtaining ROE's with Building Owners by fostering business relationships with large developers, Property Managers, and Commercial Building Owners throughout the New York City Metro area. The Business Development Manager will negotiate building access agreements with these customers to formalize the relationship with Astound Broadband powered by RCN Business Solutions and ensure top quality service as well as partner with the sales teams to achieve their individual goals.


  • Negotiate ROE Agreement for Commercial multi-tenant units (MTU), meeting/exceeding quarterly targets for number of buildings/units assigned.
  • Work effectively with sales engineering/network deployment team to ensure timely review, assessment and deployment of all leads
  • Be aware of ALL new leads and potential target buildings, current or future. This will include (but is not limited to) the following activities:
    • Neighborhood walkthroughs
    • Review of trade and online publications
    • Initiating and attending networking events
    • Be an expert on up to date knowledge of MTU market within territory
  • Complete all ROE Agreement paperwork, providing the owner/operator with a scheduled installation which has been stipulated by engineering and construction
  • Maintain and demonstrate a current knowledge of Astound products, programming, promotional offers, technology and deployment specifications
  • Implement successful strategies to drive expansion of "on-net" and "near-net" commercial buildings in existing and new markets
    • Target, identify and develop strategic revenue-producing partnerships and alliances
    • Evaluate and support business development opportunities identified by sales channels
    • Develop market analysis and business case to support expansion opportunities
    • Identify key functional costs, hub design, and specifications based on opportunity analysis
    • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders including Engineering, Business Solutions, Product Development, Fiber Design and Construction and Marketing
    • Analyze the performance of new initiatives and market expansions across the org to verify performance based expectations, specifically building penetration results
  • Own and manage all data associated with buildings in CRM including (but not limited to):
    • Working with partner teams on documenting available services, location of equipment, equipment classification
    • Document any known costs including revenue sharing deal, access fees and incremental costs for new customers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred
  • Knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate market in the New York City Metropolitan Market
  • Experience in sales and/or market development within the telecommunications industry
  • Proven ability to coordinate across broad teams including marketing, operations, sales, and finance
  • Proven ability to conduct complex contract negotiations
  • Proven results in developing a channel and exceeding sales organizational objectives
  • Understanding of fiber optic data and telecommunications solutions in CLEC business.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build and establish effective relationships
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective problem solving, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work with and manage CRM systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders
