Boeing's Cabin and Network System - Cabin Experience Network (CEN) Team is looking for Mid-entry Level Software Engineers capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification). The individual will participate in development CEN's camera surveillance airborne software project. Assists others with documenting of software requirements, architectures, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system. Assists others with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Performs agile software project management. Documents deployed processes and tools and collect metrics. Supports software research and development projects. Works under some supervision.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs software project management functions.
  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Tracks and evaluates software team to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
  • 1+ years' experience leading software development projects
  • 2+ years of working in a Linux/Unix or Ubuntu environment
  • 2+ years of experience with project management or leadership role.
  • 5+ years' experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
  • 5+ years' experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and best agile software engineering practices
  • 5+ years' experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with DevSecOps.
  • Experience using common software version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA, TSF
  • Experience with Yocto, NodeJS, NGINX, Docker
  • Familiar with video streaming application such as H.264, RTSP, Gstreamer, HLS, WebRTC
  • A positive attitude towards learning, software quality, and teamwork
  • Demonstrates creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • 2+ years of experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
