As the Compliance Program Manager, you are responsible for auditing both pre and post legal activity to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies set forth by Northwell and for all participating Northwell entities.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintains a neutral/impartial position to facts, providing all possible outcomes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving patient responsibility civil suits prior to summons ensuring that all patient suits are reviewed for accuracy and policy compliance. Expected to investigate all aspects of a patient account prior to summons to confirm a case meets all criteria including but not limited to; billing, propensity to pay score, FA eligibility, communication, demographics, etc.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all execution orders prior to execution to ensure all policies and expected procedures were followed in accordance to the regulations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all settlements to ensure all policies and expected procedures were followed in accordance to the regulations
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle teams and leaders across the enterprise to ensure all internal policies regarding litigation are adhered to. This may include:
  • Audits
  • Quality Monitoring
  • Monthly & Quarterly Business Reviews regarding litigation case
  • Quarterly & Annual Scorecard preparation for litigation against patients
  • Work collaboratively across the enterprise to resolve escalated customer issues and any external requests regarding patient debt collection legal activity including but not limited to Attorney General requests and other public and social media article responses.
  • Stay current on the servicing risk & regulatory requirements to maintain compliance and minimize risk.
  • Support the attorney legal functions as a witness to court hearings when required and prepare exhibits for various proceedings when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of performance and accountability for all participating Northwell entities.
  • Drafts reports detailing audit findings and communicates with stakeholders.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years relevant legal debt collections and/or auditing required.
  • NYS and federal collections regulations knowledge including but not limited to FDCPA & CFPB.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Legal experience preferred.
  • Exceptional strategic and analytical skills; ability to review complex data, identifying key insights and developing concise practical plans for execution.
  • Experience with current Northwell host systems preferred including but not limited to; Soarian, Eagle, Invision, Artiva, Series, and FACS.
  • Strong presentation competence; PowerPoint skills preferred.
  • Strong analytic competence: Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong results orientation, a track record of hitting and exceeding targets.
  • Self-starter: able to drive progress in an ambiguous environment and demonstrate excellent collaboration skills and ability to succeed in a matrix environment.
  • The ability to converse effectively with vendor partners and adapt the approach; build strong and trusting relationships.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and confidently navigate several systems.
  • Complexity of cases require problem-solving, communication skills, and collaboration with internal service teams to provide in-depth solutions quickly and efficiently.
