The Sr. Network Communications Engineer provides advanced technical support for Ingevity's networking needs including network software, hardware, routers, switches, and various transmission systems using a variety of diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations. In this role, you are responsible for planning, implementing, designing, analyzing, and maintaining the highly complex network infrastructures of a large Global network.
How you will impact Ingevity:
Lead in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems of high complexity and resiliency, to negotiate solutions and work to achieve and maintain a high availability design.
Play a vital role toward the security, architecture, design, and documentation for our WAN and LAN network hardware, data center, software, services and product activity.
Responsible for the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and assistance of various platforms (cloud/hosted, hardware, operating systems, software, and systems tools).
Install, customize, maintain, test, and troubleshoot operating systems and other network software.
Provide consultation and direct technical assistance in life cycle planning, problem management/resolution, integration, and systems.
Implement releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment/platforms.
Ensure platform/service performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, and tuning.
Provide technical assistance, as needed, to the enterprise.
Provide oversight, technical direction, and expertise to other technical members of project and assist teams.
What you need to succeed:
BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Telecom Engineering, Business, a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years IT experience with 5 years of network architecture, design and engineering experience in Global IT environments including cloud and third-party outsourced components.
Documented experience supporting and developing enterprise IT infrastructure architecture in hosted and cloud environments preferred.
Hyper-converged technology knowledge/experience preferred.
Expert Knowledge and technical expertise of wireless communications, network security, voice and data networking systems required.
Knowledge of best practices for optimizing IT infrastructure, provide policies, standards and guidelines.
Must have advanced computer skills with MS operating systems and MS products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Active Directory, etc.) including desktop and server-based applications.
Proficient in creating low-level network design documentation including detailed Visio diagrams.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing strategic and tactical plans as they relate to IT Infrastructure.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and review the work of technical personnel and establish and maintain working relationships with users, technical staff, management, vendors and others.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Self-starter with strong interpersonal, facilitation and leadership skills, along with effective verbal and written communication skills. Advanced process orientation and excellent planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex problem isolation with Telecommunications infrastructures: PRI/T1/DS3/ETH.
Experience with H.323 and SIP protocols.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex problem isolation in LAN/WAN environments.
Expert knowledge of Cisco Routing, Switching and VPN Technologies.
LAN/WAN architecture, including software defined (SD) WAN technologies, modern telecommunications technology ie (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, Fiber Optics, Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Digital Subscriber Line and Gigabit and higher throughput Ethernet). Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols. Cloud PBX experience preferred.
Experience with Solar Winds and/or other network monitoring/reporting tools.
Experience designing highly secure multi-tenant network solutions.
Experience implementing Cisco Nexus, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco VPN, WVD/AVD and VoIP solutions.
Exposure to Disaster recovery and Business Continuity Planning concepts and designs.
Public cloud (Azure, Google, AWS) design and support experience preferred.
Occasional domestic/international travel, and off-hours support including on-call.

Certified CCNP with a preference for CCIE
Palo Alto Firewalls Engineer level certification
Certification or working knowledge of Palo Alto IONs (SD WAN)
