As a Splunk Architect, you will engineer, implement and maintain large Splunk clusters (100 TB/day +).

You will have the opportunity to tune, troubleshoot, automate and develop data ingestion pipelines. You will create engineering solutions for the Splunk platform on both on-prem and cloud environments, supporting thousands of users. Hands on experience with managing large-scale, multi-site Splunk clusters is required.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Architect multi-site Splunk cluster that can handle 50+ tera bytes per day ingestion volume
  • Provide day-to-day support on maintaining a large Splunk implementation (multi tera bytes per day log volume)
  • Be on-call for responding to any Splunk related issues and resolve/escalate on time
  • Work with Application teams (the users of Splunk) to resolve any usability issues reported
  • Develop monitoring for ensuring Splunk infrastructure health (Disk usage, CPU/Memory usage, Performance)
  • Ensure Splunk infrastructure is up and running and performing with maximum efficiency 24X7
  • Develop reports on Splunk usage share with team and upper management
  • Install and maintain Splunk Universal forwarder on Application/Web/DB servers
  • Perform upgrades and patch installs of Splunk infrastructure
  • Identify opportunities for Application teams to add Splunk Knowledge Objects
  • Ensure Splunk Universal Forwarder is up and running on all the identified Application/Web/DB Servers
  • Work with Splunk Support to resolve any issues on time
  • Thoroughly document any procedures to support Splunk Infrastructure
  • Write scripts to automate Splunk Administration activities
  • Provide explanation and information to others on difficult issues
  • Identify/quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems
  • Maintain awareness of current technology assets, and the applicability and capability of each

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in using configuration management solutions such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Support experience in a large enterprise environment
  • Deep understanding of Linux/Windows OS administration and Networking
  • Excellent Shell scripting and/or Programming skill in any language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in architecting and administering Splunk platform
  • Experience in APM/Monitoring tools (New Relic, Dynatrace, DC RUM)
  • Experience in supporting Application Servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat)
  • Health care industry experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
