What we need: We are adding a Senior Data Engineer to our team in Chicago, IL!

In this new role, you'll architect cloud data infrastructure used by different teams at HNI and own projects from beginning to end. You will be provided opportunities to shape the future of data infrastructure and work on the latest cloud data technologies to develop analytic systems that scale with company growth.

As a key hire in a new department you will design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines and data warehouses which provide insights to multiple business partners for data-driven business decisions.

What you will do:

• Develop optimal data processing architecture and systems for new data and ELT pipelines based on HNI's newly created Azure Data Platform environment
• Develop an enterprise cloud data lake, data warehousing platform supporting the needs of business intelligence, data science and advance analytics projects
• Dive deep into all aspects of the business, understand the problems, and tie them back to data engineering solutions
• Act as a technical leader and mentor for the analysts and engineers of the Business Intelligence team, helping to institute best engineering practices and approaches
• Design and develop new framework and automation tools to enable teams to consume and understand data faster
• Brainstorm and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms and products
• Collaborate with multiple teams in high visibility roles and own the solution development end-to-end

What you have:

• 6+ years' experience in SQL, developing ETL/ELT processes
• Hands on experience with Cloud Data Platforms, preferably with Azure
• BS/MS in Technical Field, Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience and knowledge in end-to-end architecture and development of enterprise data solutions using Data Lakes, Python, CI/CD frameworks and MPP systems

• Excellent communication, teamwork and consulting skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set
