The HR Project Manager is responsible for creating, managing, and executing projects identified to standardize and strengthen HR programs, practices, and processes across S&C. The HR Project Manager implements project management processes and tools for the HR function.

The HR Project Manager provides project management expertise in working with a cross-functional problem-solving team charged with resolving identified program, practice, or process problems. This includes the development of project charters, determination of budgets, timelines, and resource needs to ensure proper prioritization of new projects/initiatives. The HR Project Manager actively manages project resources to ensure that project charters align with HR and S&C business strategic objectives.

The HR Project Manager actively facilitates discussion with HR process owners and project leads to draw out and document risks and interdependencies and then facilitates identification of mitigation plans. The HR Project Manager coordinates change plan communications to ensure optimal implementation and minimal disruptions.

HR Project Manager Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with HR leadership and HR work partners to identify short- and long-term projects to be undertaken; performs feasibility needs analysis to determine project timelines.
  • Manages the analysis, project identification, design, budget, communication, and integration of project plans; assesses project design resource capabilities and needs.
  • Leverages the experience of cross-functional resources and, if needed, resources external to the project team. Assembles and guides a problem-solving team to resolve the problem and design the targeted enhancement.
  • Defines project objectives, scope, roles, and responsibilities; defines quality gates for each project methodology phase.
  • Determines the impact of known and anticipated needs by reviewing system configurations in use.
  • Guides problem-solving teams in researching, evaluating, designing, and proposing solutions to meet business needs in accordance with best practices.
  • Maintains and tracks resolutions of project issues.
  • Monitors the status of all HR projects; monitors the resource requirements; advises the problem-solving team on the design and development of project plans and timelines; guides the development of project documentation and identifies and mitigates project risks.
  • Helps the problem-solving team to assess project risk through use of quality tools; coaches the problem-solving team in alternatives, solutions, and change management approaches.
  • Identifies success measures and monitors project progress; delivers project updates to project teams, sponsors, work partners and HR leaders.

Education and Experience

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university. Advanced degree preferred.
  • SHRM, PHR or other HR certification preferred.
  • Project Management certification is required for this role.
  • Five plus (5+) years of progressive human resources experience supporting multiple HR functional organizations.
  • Three plus (s+) years of HR project management experience.
  • Demonstrate experience in working with HR Technology partners.
  • Proven success working with all levels of leadership.
  • Flexible and able to quickly assess situations and pivot as necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Very responsive and strong execution focus. Ability to hold project teams accountable in driving change initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft tools (Forms, Excel, Word, etc.), Oracle HCM, and ADP Enterprise/ADP Workforce Now.
  • Experience with Agile, Asana or other project management systems.
  • Excellent communication, change management, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in client management and working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
