If this sounds like you, and the career below sounds exciting, we'd like to hear from you.Working ArrangementHybridJob DescriptionApply principles of information systems to design, build and support data lake applications working closely with technology architecture team;Setup governance modules for new projects and applications;Design and review code for new projects implemented by development team;Support data delivery model for end user reporting; and assist with architecture and builds to ensure adherence to best practices;Support Investment Division Data Lake hosted on Hadoop platform using Hive to load data; Oozie to schedule jobs, NiFi to extract, transform, load data; and Spark to ingest and extract jobs and other big data supported frameworks;Support Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Synapse and SQL managed instance of data in transit out of Investment Division Data Lake;Monitor and support batch load queries using Hive;Analyze data breaks identified and reported by end business users;Perform data patches and identify and release code fixes for issues based on priority provided by business support teams;Provide SQL design and production support services for end user reporting layer;Assist with data lineage and data transit between big data lake and SQL reporting data delivery layer;Work with end users to facilitate PowerBI report builds based on business needs;Provide updates to senior leadership and business teams regarding issues with vendors, technical teams and business users;Provide training to end users and business users to leverage PowerBI for reporting needs including reviewing reports, datasets and data flows; and build governance around PowerBI reports and refresh schedules.Create, update and modify incident tickets;Execute pre/post implementation steps as part of planned code releases to support release management;Provide evidence to external auditors as part of systems support for compliant applications;Support migration of technologies from legacy applications to new enterprise standards; andMaintain documentation such as Runbooks, Playbooks and cheat sheets for day to day activities.

Minimum Requirements:Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and 2 years of experience in an information technology position. If qualifying for the position based on Master's degree, experience may be gained before, during or after Master's degree. Employer will also accept Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and 5 years of experience in an information technology position.

Experience must include:2 years of experience with database modeling and data warehousing;2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server; 2 years of experience with programming languages including JAVA, Python, SQL, SCALA and shell scripts;2 years of experience using PowerBI, Qlick, Tableu and other visualization tools;2 years of experience with data investigation and triage to identify data quality issues;2 years of experience using ticketing tools for incident/request management including Snow for ServiceNow;2 years of experience with code repositories including GitHub and GitLab;2 years of experience creating documentations, runbooks, playbooks and how-to wiki designs;1 year of experience with migration activities of legacy applications to cloud base technologies.Experience may be gained concurrently.career at Manulife/John Hancock provides the opportunity to learn new skills and move your career forward.

Primary LocationBoston, MassachusettsSalary range is expected to be between$111,900.00 USD - $201,420.00 USDIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location.

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
