Pharmacy Data Analyst I, II or III DOE

Pharmacy Data Analytics is responsible for providing proactive reporting solutions and advanced data analytics in support of the strategic goals of the corporation. The Pharmacy Data Analyst supports pharmacy management decisions and corporate key initiatives through leadership functions and long-term solutions development. The Analyst is a highly skilled technical resource and possesses the ability to manage complex projects and solve issues with large financial impact and/or risk to the corporation. The Analyst is key in supporting pharmacy services successful transformation of healthcare.



Responsibilities

  • Creates complex reports. Modifies underlying SQL.

  • Thoroughly validates own work. Validates other team members reporting. Can be counted on to accurately validate complex reporting.

  • Makes decisions on issues that have significant risk impact to the corporation.

  • Proactively identifies issues and concerns and brings to management.

  • Contributes as needed to meet departmental deadlines.

  • Analyze data and prepare reports for users related to health care services, utilization, costs, trends, enrollment, incentives and revenue by providers, members, networks, groups, products and lines of business.

  • Perform statistical analysis and data modeling as required by user requests and make recommendations.

  • Maintain existing and develop new information reporting systems to support requirements of internal and external users.

  • Analyze and evaluate impacts of new products, systems and work processes on data and reporting systems.

  • Work with departments responsible for transactions systems to assure reporting data is captured and the integrity and reliability of the data is maintained.

  • Develop and execute balancing routines to insure data warehouse updates are complete and accurate.

  • Develop and execute data validation routines to insure the integrity of the warehouse data.

  • Assist business analysts in other departments with interpretation of data and the appropriate uses of data tools and reporting algorithms.

  • Provide training to business analysts in query and report preparation for the purpose of improving report consistency throughout the plan and Regence.

  • Communicate results of analysis and recommendations in verbal and written form.

  • Communicate with information users to determine reporting requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have advanced SQL knowledge and report-writing capabilities.

  • Proficient using data access tools, specifically Oracle suite of tools, Microsoft Access, SQL Navigator, etc.

  • Proficient with word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheet (MS Excel) programs. Must be proficient with pivot tables, imports, vlookups, functions, macros and VBA.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to recognize issues and problems; helps identify, document and implement the solution.

  • Well-developed business sense (finance, accounting, statistics, risk management, project management).

  • Solid oral and written communication skills. Interface effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Able to identify need for and lead the creation of desk procedures, validating for accuracy and departmental cohesiveness. Lead interdepartmental training activities.

  • Proven ability to perform difficult analytical tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to be creative and innovation in the application of data and information to support strategic and tactical planning.

  • Ability to develop methodologies and approaches for new tasks and projects.

  • Strong understanding of all relevant corporate data systems including claims, membership, pricing and provider data systems.

  • Knowledge of provider reimbursement methodologies, managed care principles, underwriting and actuarial principles helpful.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, diagnosis and procedure coding is helpful.

Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above

Pharmacy Data Analyst I would have a Bachelor's degree in business, health information administration, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field and 2 years' relevant work experience in data analysis or supporting relational database development, maintenance or utilization in healthcare systems or business systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

No unusual working conditions.

Work primarily performed in an office environment.
