Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.Today's warfighters and intelligence analysts are overwhelmed with data and tasks from a variety of unmanned vehicle systems.

The FAST Labs business area is the innovative research and development engine within the Electronic Systems Sector of BAE.As a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer in FAST Labs Engineering you will:Lead in the evaluation and design of highly complex and innovative software architectures.Lead the technical success of SW teams (4-8 people) as a project lead or software engineering lead.

Mentor and train junior staff in software engineering and development industry best practices and process.Lead external project interactions with customers to understand their requirements and guide development efforts to meet their needs.Contribute to and review large software proposals as a primary representative of the FAST Labs software organization.

Design, write, test, integrate, and debug software on assigned programs. Primarily these will be embedded systems with minimal or real time kernels (YoctoLinux, Peta Linux, or bare metal) in high performance, low latency, or strict real time environments. Familiarity with device trees, device drivers, kernel mode environments is required.

Device platforms include ARM, Zynq SoCs, x86/64 and PPC.Qualified candidates will also possess knowledge of software architectures, software industry best practices, and emerging software technologies. As a member of the Software Engineering Directorate, you will have opportunities to continue developing strong and increasingly complex software skills and stay current in the software discipline.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's Degree in a technical area with 8+ years professional SW development experience, or Master's Degree in a technical area with 6+ years.Experience as Technical Lead for other SW engineers.

Recent experience with C, C+, various assembly languages on embedded processors.Experience with kernel coding on several of: Zynq family SoCs, ARM, Power PC, x86/x64.Experience with real time environments, Yocto Linux, Peta Linux.

In depth work with new device interfacing (device drivers, etc.) and debugging with designers.Current SECRET clearance and ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Proficiency with software build tools such as: Jenkins, Gitlab, CMake, Clang, and Ant.Experience developing algorithms in or translating from MATLABImage processing, Camera movement management (pointer and gimbal), Synthetic-aperture Radar (SAR) experience.DSP experience.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $122870 - $208890Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
